By Adam Quinn Samford Crew's Novice Women team placed first in the Hobbs Island Regatta last weekend to win the gold medal-- beating teams such as Sewanee, Georgia, and Auburn along the way. The True Novice Women followed up by winning bronze in what was their first regatta ever. Both women's boats represented Samford University well throughout the competition, including throwing the coxswain of their winning boat into the lake. Samford Crew's two Men's boats similarly excelled, coming in fourth and fifth in their race. Both men's boats beat teams from Auburn, LSU, and Texas A&M to earn their spots. The team races again this weekend, November 3rd, at the Head of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee. |
